About VersaTube

Since 1996, Mid-South Metal Products has seen a number of transitions - including a name change, innovative product development, and a West Coast expansion plan. Mid-South Metal Products is now doing business as VersaTubeŽ Building Systems, which was named after the company's patented framing system and primary product line. The company has two manufacturing facilities - one at our corporate headquarters in Collierville, TN and the other near Tempe, AZ.

In 1997, business partners Tim Soder and Bruce Ostrander were challenged with the necessity of finding a new and more profitable market for their steel tubing product. When a large corporate retail account closed their stores nationwide - negatively impacting sales and income - the two owners began brainstorming on a steel tubing innovation. They invested in a piece of machinery to attempt to fit one piece of rectangular or square steel tubing into another - without using insert pieces. It's a process known as "swaging". "Many had tried to pull off this technique for years but failed. We were able to achieve it on the first try. We saw that we had something special and we needed to patent it," said Soder, VersaTube president.

They decided to use the machine to create a pre-engineered, ready-to-assemble shelter and building framing system and packaged kits. This patented design and connection process is unique within the metal building industry - simplifying and reducing assembly time and cost. Ostrander, VersaTube VP, said, "With our patented building system, we are able to give our customers products that are easy to assemble, structurally sound, and flexible enough address almost any size or need. Our goal is to meet the growing consumer need for garages, buildings, carports and other storage and shelter solutions."

The VersaTubeŽ framing system and complete package products are available through a nationwide network of authorized independent dealers and home center retailers. While distributors and dealers have been established in 30 states and Canada, VersaTube continues to seek and attract new dealer sources looking for a solid business opportunity with a proven product and building system.
