Our garage kits are properly designed to shelter your camper, vehicle, fifth wheel, equipment, boat, car, RV or travel trailer. Our RV garages will fit even the tallest of motor homes. VersaTube garages can be used as equine loafing sheds, hay storage shelter or horse shelters. Steel prefabricated garage kits make great travel trailer shelters, fifth wheel covers or metal awnings for automobiles. VersaTube garages are a stronger alternative compared to canvas garages or canvas covers. Steel garages are much stronger then aluminum. Metal garages and shelters are a much better alternative to wood pole barns for obvious reasons.
VersaTube's engineered garages are designed to meet even the harshest snow and wind load conditions. Your personal VersaTube representative/dealer can offer you the right garage reinforced as necessary to meet the requirements of your local building department. VersaTube can make obtaining a building permit easier with our complete engineering packages.
Our competitors will take your 10% to 12% non-refundable deposit then provide you with a photocopy of very generic plans. Most building departments will not accept copies of engineered plans. So, if you are certain you need a building permit, then VersaTube is the right garage for your needs.

VersaTube offers metal garages for both residential and commercial use nationwide. Our garages come in a variety of lengths, widths and heights. VersaTube prefabricated garage kits can reach sidewall heights up 16' tall, widths up to 52' wide, and our prefabricated garage kits can be built to unlimited lengths. We offer completely enclosed prefabricated garage kits as an economical building option. Some prefer to enclose three sides of our garage kits while others prefer to only enclose the sidewalls. We also offer gable enclosure kits to close off just the peak on the gable ends of our prefabricated garage kits.

VersaTube structures, when sold and supplied by an authorized VersaTube Building Systems Dealer ,are generally erected within a month. Delivery dates are determined by the dealer, based on current work load and customer requirements.

Yes, they do.
4. What gauge/thickness of steel is utilized for the framing components?
VersaTube is proud to offer steel tubing made in the U.S.A. with gauges that range from 15 to 12 gauge depending size and configuration. Should you have an unusual load requirement, your dealer will be able to properly configure the design of your garage to meet these needs.
5. Can I have my garage custom sized?
Yes. Our VersaTube Building System allows for any size garage or RV garage to be built up to 52' wide, 16' sidewall and unlimited length.
6. How many colors does VersaTube offer for garages?
VersaTube offers sheet metal in nine standard colors and we will gladly search for colors outside our color chart.
7. Do you offer do-it-yourself garage kits that are easy enough for the average person to build?
Want to save some money? VersaTube offers premier do-it-yourself garage kits. Most VersaTube dealers offer kits and they are also available at most Home Centers such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, and Sutherlands. We have a detailed step-by-step assembly manual to help you every step of the way. Our Slip Fit connections allow us to produce a garage kit that is easy to get home and easier to assemble. VersaTube competitors only offer DIY garage kits in some instances. When our competitors do provide you a DIY garage kit, they usually just deduct 5% from the installed price. Worst of all, most of our competitors do not offer assembly instructions. Most will not provide customer support should their customers need it during assembly. It is always smart to check with the Better Business Bureau to be assured you are making the right choice concerning your buying decision.
8. Do I have to pay sales tax for my RV garage or car garage?
VersaTube follows state and federal laws on sales tax. We do not charge taxes to the federal government, state government or any organization on products for resale with a valid Tax Exemption Number.
9. Does VersaTube crush bend or mandrel bend garage posts?
VersaTube uses a proprietary method when mandrel-bending side posts. VersaTube mandrel bends maintain the integrity and strength of the steel garage framing. Some models offered utilize single point compression bending.
10. Why square and rectangular tubing?
VersaTube utilizes shaped tubing for 2 reasons. One, garages built with square or rectangular tubing are significantly stronger that those using round tubing. The flat surface on shaped tubing provides for easier assembly when applying screws and sheet metal panels.
11. How does VersaTube deliver garages to residential customers?
VersaTube prefabricated garage kits are conveniently packaged and shipped on 40" x 120" pallets. Even the largest steel canopies can be delivered by any major shipping company using a standard pallet jack and lift gate.
12. What is the warranty for our metal prefabricated garage kits?
VersaTube garages are backed by The VersaTube Product Pledge and limited 20-year frame warranty.
Our competitors only offer a warranty on upgraded garages with heavier framing and cost considerably more.
13. What is the gauge and size of the sheet metal?
VersaTube offers standard 29 gauge sheet metal and 26 gauge as an upgrade.
14. How do I prepare the ground where my garage or RV garage will be built?
Garages can be built on a number of flat surfaces following the anchoring procedures provided in the installation manual.
15. Do I need a building permit to build a metal garage?
VersaTube recommends checking your local building codes before constructing a garage.
16. Can VersaTube garages be built and then completely enclosed with additional materials at a later date?
The VersaTube Building System is designed for this exact purpose. Additional sections can be added and your garage can even be enclosed at a later date without issue.
17. What height is usually required for an RV garage?
Most prefab garage kits we sell are 14' x 38' x 12' and easily fit a motor home with an air conditioner underneath.
18. Can a VersaTube steel awning be attached to an existing structure?
Yes, but attaching to an existing structure will require additional engineering.

Authorized VersaTube dealers can install our garages as boat slips covers at their discretion.
22. What is the standard width of a double car garage?
The garage industry generally refers to an 18-foot garage as a doublewide. VersaTube offers doublewide units in both an 18' and 20' wide configuration. Additionally, our Suburban Series garage line is a full foot wider than the industry standard singlewide (12' wide) and doublewide (18' wide) garages. For two large vehicles, we recommend a 24' x 24' garage. For two small vehicles, a 20' x 20' garage may do the job.

24. What kind of concrete foundation do you recommend for a metal garage?

25. What size steel garages require truss braces?
Generally our standard steel garage does not require truss braces in widths narrower then 20' wide unless you have higher snow and wind load requirements. Most steel garages 20' wide, and wider require truss braces to meet local wind and snow load requirements.
26. What is the roof pitch of VersaTube steel garages?
VersaTube offer garages in a 3:12 roof pitch.
27. What is the on center spacing of the frame trusses?
Snow and wind load conditions dictate the required on center spacing of a garage:
VersaTube 12' to 20' wide garages are 5' on center.
VersaTube 24' to 30' wide garages are 4' or 5" on center
VersaTube Contractors Series 2"x4" framing allows for garages wider than 30'.
28. Can a VersaTube garage be mounted to a wood floor or deck?
Yes, as long as it is properly designed to carry the additional weight of the garage along with the snow and wind loads.
29. Does VersaTube offer a garage with roof eaves?
Yes. Our garages and RV garages come in many different styles. The Summit Series garage and the Frontier Series garage have the A-Frame style look.
30. How long does it take to assemble a VersaTube garage?
Standard metal garages range from 8' wide to 30' wide and take 4 - 12 hours to assemble. Adding sidewalls, a front or back to your garage adds to the assembly time.
31. How tall will garage or RV garage peak height be?
Here is the formula to calculate peak height (((Width / 2) x 3) / 12) + sidewall height
32. How close can a garage be to another structure, building or fence?
It is important to leave enough room to work around the perimeter of the metal garage for assembly purposes. We also recommend checking your local building codes.
33. How wide are the sheet metal panels and can I order extra rows to enclose my garage?
The sheet metal panels VersaTube offers are 3' wide and extra rows can be ordered to provide extra coverage down the side of the metal garage.
Prefabricated Garage Kit Anchoring Questions
34. How are VersaTube garages anchored to a concrete slab?
VersaTube garages use common 7" concrete anchor bolts that are installed using a hammer drill.
35. How is my metal garage anchored to asphalt or dirt?
It is extremely important to carefully and firmly anchor VersaTube garages. For exact instructions, refer to our garage assembly manual. To properly anchor in asphalt or dirt, postholes must be created with our rebar anchors set in concrete.
36. Can a VersaTube metal garage be anchored to a wood deck?
We recommend using lag bolts through the pre-punched holes in the steel garage base rails then screwed down into the wood surface for a secure hold.
