Foundation Requirements
  • All VersaTube structures require a minimum of 2500 psi concrete for foundations.
  • Full Concrete Slab: Requires a 12" wide footer and a 4" depth for the balance of the full concrete slab.
  • Concrete Strip Footing: Requires a minimum of 12" wide x 12" deep concrete trench around the perimeter of the structure.
  • Concrete Piers: Refer to your foundation drawing for the placement and depth of each concrete pier.
  • Always consult with your local building department for specific requirements in your area.
Anchoring on Concrete Foundation

VersaTube typically provides 1/2" x 7" expansion bolts with a flat washer and a hex nut or 30" ground anchors depending on the foundation type for your structure.

  1. Place starter base rails flush with the sheeting edge on the front of the slab.
  2. Locate and insert extension base rails until desired length is reached.
  3. Measure from end pin to the first pin of the next inserted base rail. Adjust spacing accurately and evenly.
  4. Once spacing is correct, secure with 2 #12 self drilling screws. NOTE: Place screws so they penetrate swage as well.
  5. Locate 1/2" x 7" expansion anchor bolts and 1/2" washers. NOTE: Verify with local building department the type of anchor bolts approved for your area.
  6. Using the anchor hole in the base rail as a guide and a 1/2" concrete bit hammer drill, pre-drill 5" into slab. The holes will accumulate concrete dust and must be blown clean before securing the wedge anchor into the hole.
  7. Place the washer and nut on the top of bolt with 2 threads showing.
  8. Set bolt with a hammer and tighten down with crescent wrench. NOTE: Do not crush the tubing.
