4 Flooring Options for Your VersaTube RV Cover
You’ve made an excellent investment in one of the great joys of life. You and your RV have been everywhere… or at least you plan to be. Your RV helps you travel the country, provides a home-away-from-home and offers an unmatched location for creating some of the best memories of your life. You have enjoyed your RV to the utmost, and now you need a permanent parking place for your treasured possession. You’ve surveyed your property and have decided to build your RV its own home. But what flooring options are available for your VersaTube RV cover?
There are several great flooring options that will give your RV a safe place to land when it’s not out traveling the roads of North America.
Earth or Bare Dirt
An earthen or dirt floor is definitely an option to support your VersaTubeRV cover. You will need special ground anchors set into concrete to keep your structure secure. Also keep in mind weather conditions, like dry heat, rain, and snow that can create dusty or muddy conditions. If you want to start out with dirt and switch to another foundation at a later time, your RV cover is simple to disassemble and reassemble.
Gravel
A step up from bare earth, a gravel floor is another good option for installing your RV cover. It’s budget friendly and cleaner than dirt or grass—helping you deal more easily with dusty or muddy conditions. Like an earth floor, you will still need secure footings. Ground, gravel and asphalt anchoring require VersaTube1/2” x 30’ rebar ground anchors when a structure is mounted in one of these foundations. You’ll need to dig post holes for concrete piers to be poured around each rebar anchor. Center the anchor at each pre-drilled anchor hole location in the base rails. Before the concrete sets, re-check all your dimensions to make sure the frame is square, has the proper width and matches the anchor holes in the base railing. Let the concrete cure overnight before installing roof or wall assemblies.
Asphalt
More budget friendly than concrete, an asphalt floor is a durable and attractive choice. Like earth and gravel, the same RV cover frame-installation into concrete piers applies. An asphalt floor is easy to patch and repair. Also, asphalt that is installed correctly can last 20 years or more. Ongoing maintenance will require that you seal your asphalt regularly every year or two. Seal protectants can be bought at your local hardware store and are easy to apply.
Concrete
The best flooring option for your RV cover is a concrete slab, or a floor poured into a concrete foundation. Concrete is the most durable, maintenance-free option on the market. Securing your frame to concrete will ensure that your RV cover not only has a firm foundation but also a stable base to fasten your RV cover to. Concrete also eliminates dust, mud, and water seepage from damaging your RV investment. Built to last, concrete is a great choice for your RV and its new cover.
