When Hurricane Harvey made landfall close to Corpus Christi on August 25, 2017, we had, thankfully, safely evacuated our Corpus Christi home. When it hit our area, it was a category 4 hurricane but it was hard to imagine the magnitude of damage it would cause to our city.

We were shocked as we watched the aerial photos come across the television screen the next morning and got a glimpse of the destruction for the first time. Until it’s safe to return you have no way of knowing what condition your property is in, but you could tell the damage was so widespread, so we tried not to get our hopes up.

When we finally returned home, our house had significant damage, but we were surprised, and impressed, to see our VersaTube Shed standing unharmed in the backyard, looking pretty much the way it did when we left!

When Harvey made landfall, the winds were around 130mph, and following that there was flooding in our yard, but the steel shed itself had virtually no damage. Inside the shed, we’ve had to replace wood shelves because of the mold caused by the water, but of course, the steel walls of our shed themselves weren’t impacted. No mold, no mildew, no rotting. Even the green paint on the exterior of the sheet metal didn’t peel!

We’re beyond impressed with our VersaTube shed and we’re so glad that when we picked our new shed we decided to go with a steel VersaTube building instead of a wood one! We brag about our shed coming through Hurricane Harvey unscathed and recommend VersaTube to all our friends.
