Your VersaTube shed is a multipurpose building that’s perfect for additional storage space, as well as a host of other uses. As such, you probably want everything in its proper place for organization’s sake, so you may want to hang some shelves. You can properly hang shelves in your VersaTube shed in just a few short steps. You may need a friend to help you install them, simply because you’ll need to hold the support boards on the inside while you drill from the outside of the building. Have no fear, though. Here’s how to hang shelves in your steel shed in just a few simple steps:

Planning and Materials

First, decide how many shelves you want, the desired size, and what type of shelving works best for your shed. This will depend on what you plan to be storing. There are wooden shelves, metal shelves, even adjustable rack shelves available at your nearest home improvement store. If you have any questions, you can always ask the local store associate while you are picking up your list of materials. You’ll need:

• ·     Drill
• ·     Screws
• ·     Washers
• ·     Caulk
• ·     Wooden Support Boards (2” x 4” should do for most shelves)
• ·     Tape Measure
• ·     Level
• ·     Shelf Brackets
• ·     Shelves

Hanging Your Shelves

You will first need to install your wooden support boards vertically. To do this, drill pilot holes from the outside of the building (every six inches along the area where the support board will go is best). Then, have a friend hold the board from the inside of your shed and, taking care that everything is level, drill a screw with a washer into each hole. Put a drop of caulk around each screw to prevent any future water leakage. 

Now that you have your support boards installed vertically, go ahead and screw in your shelf brackets, again making sure that they are level and evenly spaced. Lastly, screw the shelves onto the shelving brackets. Presto! You have hanging shelves in your metal shed. Now you can keep everything neat and organized to get the most out of your VersaTube shed.
