Jay Leno's Garage Tour of Motorcycles

by VersaTube Marketing on October 23, 2019

Jay Leno might be just as famous for his garage full of vintage cars as he is for his acclaimed late night, Tonight show, but did you know his collection of motorcycles is nearly as extensive and impressive? A serious motorcycle junkie, Leno has an unrivaled collection! That’s because Leno doesn’t buy vintage bikes to restore them and flip them for a profit. Instead, he buys them with the intention that they are ridden and loved again. He has said it doesn’t matter if his cars and motorcycles appreciate or depreciate because he would never sell them. Check out some of his notable acquisitions.

1930 Indian Chief

Leno maintained the look of the 90-year old motorcycle while restoring the engine so he could hit the road with it. He fondly refers to this 1930 Indian Chief as a motorcycle that would like to kill you when you take it for a ride, so we imagine that keeps all but the most daring rider from taking it for a ride.

1996 Münch Mammoth

Sometimes referred to as the first “superbike”, when it came out in 1966, the Münch Mammoth was a very luxurious (and fast!) motorcycle. Quite exclusive, it hit the market at $4,000. Compare that to a Harley Davidson that would have been around $1,800 at the time.

1964 Triumph Bonneville

One of Leno’s all-time favorites, his Triumph Bonneville was previously owned by rock star, Adam Ant. Beautiful and classic, in 1966 it had a top speed of 126mph when other motorcycles were struggling to hit 100mph. It came standard with a small tool kit because breaking down was par for the course, but the simple, basic engine made getting back on the road easy. It rides great, looks great, and strikes a nostalgic cord - it’s easy to see why it’s one of Leno’s favorites!

It would take a lifetime for most of us to accrue even a tenth of Leno’s motorcycle collection, but it sure would be fun to try! Do you need a garage or workshop for your own for restoring classic bikes or cars? A VersaTube would be perfect for the job! Check out our garage kits or design your own for a garage that exactly fits your collection, whether you’ve got 1 motorcycle or a hundred.
