About that site prep - if you want to get the most out of your loafing shed, choosing the correct site and prepping it properly is key. Be sure to situate your shed so that the opening faces away from the prevailing winds and sun; if your shed will be near a slope you’ll need to shape the grade on the high side so the run-off will go around your shed. You’ll also want to make sure your shed is relatively easy to get to. Placing it in the middle of your pasture may seem like a good idea, but it’s a long, inconvenient way to go for cleanouts, etc.

Inside, if you’ll be using the shed for horses and not just storage you’ll want to line the walls with plywood for your horses protection and comfort. The floor should be non-slip and absorbent, and built up so that it doesn’t compact over time and end up collecting water.
