9 Awesome Garage Accessories
Whether you use your home garage for cars, storage or workspace, there are some things that it just can’t do without. If your house is your castle, then your garage is a part of your castle. Would you treat your castle like a dumping ground? We wouldn’t either!
We’ve scoured the internet (and our own garages) to share the following nine gadgets & accessories that will take your garage to the next level.
Of course, if you’re thinking about building your dream garage, we’ve got you covered with our Garage Building Kits!
Fire extinguishers. These are an absolute must. There are far too many hazards in a garage (oil, gasoline, flammable objects, chemicals etc.) to ignore the need for a fire extinguisher. Unfortunately, most people don’t understand just how important this life-saving item is.
Cord storage. Extension cords are a major cause for concern and can easily injure someone. Additionally, they get tangled up and are frustrating to uncoil. Wall-mounted cord storage devices may cost a little more, but they’re well worth the investment. They keep dangerous cords out of the way and untangled, and make clean simple.
Floor mats. Floor mats are great for preventing accidents. They come in a range of colors and sizes and should absorb any spillage from your car or projects. They’re easy to maintain and great for hiding unattractive flooring or stains. Check out memory foam mats for areas where you might spend a lot of time on your feet, like in front of your workbench.
Door guards. Keep your car doors pristine (or at least free of dents, dings and scratches) with a mounted wall guard for your car door. Simply mount it where your car door opens to protect it from damage.
Ceiling-mounted ladder. Ladders can be extremely clunky and hard to store. Ceiling-mounted ladders are perfect for a garage because they save space and can be pulled down whenever you need them.
Utility shelves. Few things are as key to a garage as utility shelving. Make sure that the shelving you choose is sturdy and reliable before storing heavy objects on it. Quality utility shelving allows you to store just about anything. We recommend you build them so that they’re out of reach for young children - consider fastening them to the wall so they won’t tip.
Ball bags. These are perfect for a household with children or active adults. Store footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, etc., to keep the garage orderly. The bag should include a panel and hooks for hanging it on the wall.
Workbench. A garage isn’t complete without a workbench. A good workbench is necessary to help you complete many garage projects and DIY jobs. Look for a workbench with built-in storage for your tools to help save space.
Humidity sensor. Hate it when your garage is stuffy? Use humidity sensors to detect humidity levels in your garage and turn on a ventilation fan. Some of these sensors can also check for dangerous mold or mildew. Comfort AND safety. Win, win.
Your garage should be a place where you enjoy working on projects. It should be a place that’s safe for your children and pets. So invest a little time and money to make it exactly how you want it to be. Many of the products mentioned here can even be found online at discount prices.
