Keep The Sun Out, Get A Carport

by Stacy Fender on August 01, 2018

Whether your baby is car, truck, boat or RV, there’s one thing that’s guaranteed: If you leave it in the sun, the heat and UV rays are going to wreak havoc.

An enclosed space left in the sun - a car or RV interior, or an enclosed boat cockpit, for example - can reach air temperatures of 145 degrees and surface temperatures of 195 degrees or more. Over time, that’s going to cause cracking, fading and more. So what can you do to keep that boat or vehicle in tip-top condition?

Park it in the protection of a VersaTube carport.

By parking in the shade of one of our pre-engineered carports, you’ll be giving your investment the protection from the elements that it deserves. Keeping your car or boat from those powerful UV rays means your dash won’t dry, fade and crack - and neither will your leather seats.  It will also protect the paint, keeping it from fading, cracking and peeling.

And since parking in the shade keeps the temps down inside your car, you’ll be putting less strain on your vehicle’s battery and air conditioning system when you use them, helping these expensive features last longer and require less maintenance.

In addition to parking in a VersaTube steel carport, you can also try these tips to help your car, boat or RV keeps its cool in the hot sun:

  • Wash and dry it often to remove dirt and debris that can damage the paint.

  • Apply a coat of wax regularly to protect the paint from UV rays.

  • When you’re away from home, use a windshield sun protector.

  • Apply leather conditioner to your leather seats for additional sun protection.

  • Always make sure your vehicle’s fluids are at the proper levels to keep your car or boat running properly.

  • Make sure your cooling system is properly serviced so your vehicle doesn’t overheat.

You have lots of different options when it comes to choosing a steel carport. Look through your options with our standard carpot building kit or design your own carport! Still have questions? Give us a call @ 888-889-9611
