7 Dope Accessories All the Coolest Barns Have
How your barn looks and feels is important. Whether your barn is for personal or professional use, its accessories should be aesthetically pleasing, easy to maintain, practical and affordable. Our barn and loafing sheds look extra good and function much better when paired with the right accessories. The right accessories are also key to keeping your animals safe and healthy.
We’ve developed a list of the 7 best accessories that any hip and happening barn should have. Here they are:
Tack stalls. Storing tacks isn’t always easy. Tacks should be stored in the tack stall to avoid wasting wall space in the barn. Baskets, shelves, hooks and hangers can be added to fit your specific needs.
Barn fans. Barn fans are extremely important because they help maintain proper airflow. Without it, barn air can get stale and excess moisture and condensation can build up (which is good for mold and bad for everyone and everything else).
Barn lighting. To keep your animals healthy and safe, barn lighting is essential. Even though natural barn lighting is highly recommended, sometimes electric lighting is a necessity. Lighting should ensure that there are few shadows throughout the workspace, which is why lighting is best placed at the corners or wall edges so that it shines inward.
Automatic waterers. Affordable and easy to install, automatic waterers are a tremendous help. With one of these babies, there’s no need for you to keep carrying heavy buckets of water. They also help to keep water fresh.
Feeders. Feeders are more important than we give them credit for. On many farms, feed can account for as much as 65% to 75% of the total cost of some animal’s care. Feeders can assist with reducing cost by eliminating waste factors. Feeder space should be considered according to how many animals you’re feeding. Feeders have some of the highest importance to your horse’s overall health.
Wash bays. Typically speaking, you will likely want to custom design a wash bay or grooming stall that will fit best with your needs. Barns equipped with wash bays make daily horse care and grooming a lot easier. Make sure your wash bay has adequate drainage, maximum traction, a water heater, an overhead hose hanger and overhead heaters. Of course, lighting is another important factor to consider for your bay or bays.
Hitching post. A hitching post is used for tying a horse or any other animal to keep it tethered. It’s used to prevent animals from straying.
