Four Reasons You Need to Protect Your Vehicle from the Elements

Extreme weather isn't the only reason you need to protect your vehicle from the elements. Find out how a VersaTube steel building keeps your vehicle safe.

Whether you own a car, truck, boat, RV, or motorcycle, if you want it to last and stay in good condition, it is important to keep it protected from the elements. The easiest way to do this is by building a steel carport, barn, or some other form of off-house structure. Here are a few reasons why your vehicle needs protection.

Sun and Heat

Direct sun and high temperatures are hard on any vehicle. They can lead to cracked tires, faded interiors, and finish ruined by flaking, fading, or blistering. Extreme heat can also shorten a battery’s lifespan, as it causes battery fluid to evaporate and damages the interior of the battery.

Rain, Snow, Sleet, and Hail

Any form of precipitation is harmful to a vehicle’s finish, especially particularly heavy hail or driving snow. Precipitation can also work its way into a vehicle’s interior or electrical system, leading to mold or short-circuits.

Storm Damage

If you live someplace where wind storms are an issue, your vehicle may be at risk from flying debris or falling tree limbs. Storing your vehicle in a resilient steel building will ensure that nothing smashes it up.

Theft and Vandalism

You can’t always trust that everyone else is going to be nice and do the right thing. By keeping your vehicle out of sight or locked away, you can protect it from getting it broken into, keyed, stolen, or otherwise vandalized. This can be especially important if you are in a situation where you leave a vehicle unattended for long periods of time, at a vacation home, or lake house.

The Solution

By building some form of structure such as a carport, barn, or shed, you can protect your vehicle from a number of costly problems. The easiest way to do this is by acquiring a steel building kit, which are generally inexpensive, resilient, and easy to put together. By acting now, you can save yourself from a headache later.
