Save Major Bucks by Holding Your Kid's Birthday Party in the Garage!

by VersaTube on January 21, 2019

Saving up for your child’s college fund? Money tied up in home renovations or a new car? Memorable birthdays don’t need to cost hundreds or thousands of dollars and be held in inconvenient locations. If you live in a house, you most likely have a cheap and easy solution at hand: your garage!

The garage is perhaps one of the most underrated aspects of the American home. Homeowners tend to set aside their garage for storage or a workshop without realizing that it can take on many roles. A place to host parties for your family and friends is just one of them!

We scoured the Internet to put together this list of garage birthday party ideas, just for you. Before you get started, we’d like to share the basic elements required for your child’s birthday party experience:

  • Folding tables and chairs - adjustable folding tables and chairs are a must for large gatherings. They’re easy to set up and break down and equally simple to clean. You can find them at just about any department, furniture or outdoor goods store. You can also rent them.

  • Tablecloth - you can find a tablecloth for almost any budget. A tablecloth is key for dressing up your folding table and adding a little more personality to your overall set up. Tablecloths are available in plain shades, patterns or themes.

  • Streamers - whether you use them to decorate your tabletops or hang them from the ceiling, party streamers are easy to find (or make) and young children tend to enjoy them!

  • Fairy lights - fairy lights make a wonderful addition to any setting and can assist with brightening up your garage. You can find great deals online or at your local department store.

  • Table centerpieces - balloons, action figures, flowers, multi-tiered dessert stands or candy make for fun and exciting centerpieces. These small items can play into the party theme and then work as small grab-bags for children to take home. Double-duty, and we love how they look!

  • Photo booth - you can easily set up a corner of your garage to act as a DIY photo booth. It’s as simple as buying or creating your own backdrop and providing props that the children can use in the photos. Kids and parents will have a blast with this!

Bonus: for added effect, consider using fabric such as jersey, canvas or lace  to cover/decorate your garage ceiling and walls. By the time you’re done setting it up, you’ll forget it’s actually your garage!

Don’t forget to clean up your garage thoroughly before setting up for the party. More ideas? Share them with us on Facebook!
