Should you put windows in your VersaTube garage?

by VersaTube on March 26, 2019

Have you ever walked into a musty old garage that’s dark and lifeless? The lack of natural light can make the garage feel stifling and uncomfortable. They’re also difficult to navigate in and can be unsafe. This is especially common in older garages.

But there is a solution! With a new garage from VersaTube, you can order and quickly design the garage that’s perfect for you - and you can be sure to customize your plans so there’s plenty of space for windows for light and ventilation. You can even add a lean-to for additional outdoor storage or entertaining and living space.

Now, sure, windows can be a security risk in a garage. But there are some unique ways you can add windows to your garage to without sacrificing security or privacy. And while we don’t sell windows, your VersaTube kit will come with the proper frames to hold the windows you specify.

Window Placement

Where you place your windows will affect different aspects of your garage. If you want to keep your garage as secure and private as possible without eliminating sunlight, you should place your windows in the upper section of your garage. However, if you’d like to be able to see outside from your garage, then place your windows in a more traditional window placement. With our Design Your Own tool, you can experiment with window sizes and placements to see what you like best.

Garage Door Make and Model

The garage door you choose can make a statement, can blend in - and can offer light through windows. Shop around, and look for windows with privacy and safety glass that will allow some light but still act as a theft deterrent.

Balance and the Big Picture

When you add windows to your garage, think about the big picture. Placing windows on opposing walls will allow you to open them and create a nice breeze - as nice on those lovely days as it is when you need good ventilation due to fumes from a project. Think about the overall look of your garage when you add windows, too. Does this wall need a pair? Should you balance the door here with a window there? Also think about where you’re planning to put things inside your garage. It’s likely you’ll want to leave one wall without windows to accommodate a storage system or something similar.
