Wisdom Wednesday - Tips for Upgrading a Shed

by Stacy Fender on May 02, 2018

Do you already have a VersaTube steel shed, but you’d like to make some upgrades? Or, maybe you have your eye on a VersaTube model, but you’re trying to think through all the ways you can truly make it yours. Either way, upgrading your steel shed is easy, thanks to these ideas, and the flexibility of VersaTube’s unique customs design and building system.

1. Include a window. You’ll be thankful for the natural light when you’re working in your shed, whether it’s illuminating a dark corner far from the door, or simply allowing you to keep the doors closed when the weather isn’t the best. Thanks to our custom design feature, you can choose the size and location of a window - or window - on your steel shed.

2. Have it wired for electricity. Add electricity to your VersaTube shed, and you’ll never regret it. From lighting to climate control, to the simple ability to power tools, electricity is a valuable upgrade.

3. Add a fold-away workbench. Space in sheds is typically tight. But a workbench is so useful. The solution? A fold-down workbench, that’s there when you need it “disappears” when you don’t.

4.Build a shed elevator. No, this isn’t for everyone. But if your steel shed is tall and narrow - maybe the building codes in your area required you to go “up” instead of “out” - this may be the most ingenious thing you’ve ever heard of. At the very least, it will certainly make getting those heavy or bulky items up and down from the top of your shed a heck of a lot easier.

5. Use a tool storage organization system. There are any number of them out there - magnetic, pegboard, racks and bins. It doesn’t really matter; just pick one that fits your space and your budget, and use it. Otherwise, tools have a way of kind of, well, taking over.

Of course, there is any number of other upgrades you can make to your VersaTube steel shed. But these ideas are an excellent place to start.
