Does your VersaTube Building Need Gutters?

by VersaTube Marketing on August 27, 2019

As you finalize plans for your VersaTube Steel Building, you’re probably deciding on the finishing touches and trying to make sure everything comes in on budget. While you’re planning for a concrete slab, interior finishes, and perhaps running electric, also consider adding gutters!  While it’s not necessary for any VersaTube building, a gutter and downspout system is a great addition you might consider adding.

Gutters Help Prevent Leaks

Gutters keep water from running against the walls, windows, and doors of your building. Left to fall freely against them, water has a knack for finding worn seals around windows and before you even knew the weathering needed updating, you could be dealing with a leak.

Gutters Protect Your Building and Foundation

As we mentioned, gutters divert water away from your building. That doesn’t seem like a major thing when you first build your VersaTube structure, but over time (a lot of time), any water that pools around your foundation can cause issues. Meaning, there is a chance you could eventually end up with cracks in the concrete slab.

When it comes down to it, gutters provide a 2nd layer of protection against water entering your building. Seals around your windows and under your door will keep water from sneaking in. However, over time, those weathering features will wear down and you’ll need to replace them. It’s in those circumstances (when it’s time to replace seals and weathering) that the addition of gutters will prevent a headache for you. They’ll route rainwater and snowmelt away from your building so you get the chance to address your weathering seals issue without encountering water that sneaks in around a window.

Now that you know everything you need to decide if gutters are a good addition to your VersaTube building, read this to learn about flooring options to consider. Got more questions about your VersaTube design? We’re here to help! Contact us here.
