Floors, Foundations, and Building Anchors

by Matt Sullivan on August 14, 2018

All VersaTube Building Systems must be anchored to the ground. We will provide you with all of the hardware you need to secure your structure to whatever prepared surface you’ve chosen for your building site.

Depending on the purpose of your building, your needs, and your budget, you may choose to build on prepared ground, gravel over prepared ground, asphalt, a concrete slab - even a boat dock! In any case, we assure you that you’ll be able to anchor your new VersaTube Building System with ease.

One of the benefits of building with a VersaTube kit:

You can always build on prepared ground now and rebuild on a concrete slab later, should your budget or your needs change.

Ground Anchors

Opting for a prepared earth, gravel, or asphalt floor? Select “ground anchors” at checkout and we’ll provide you with the 30” rebar and hardware necessary to properly anchor your base rails to concrete piers. This is a phenomenal option for folks on a budget and/or for folks unable to level their building site.

Strip footing is another option for those of you planning on a dirt ground floor or gravel floor. The strip footing method involves digging a minimum 12” wide by 12” deep trench (depending on building size), pouring concrete, and anchoring your building onto that continuous concrete footing. For this option, select “concrete anchors” at checkout.

Concrete Slab

For most, particularly those building garages, storage buildings, and workshops, the concrete slab option is the ideal option.

Concrete slab floors are strong, level, clean, and can be coated in epoxy to make them resistant to degradation and easy to maintain.

Concrete slabs are also very easy to anchor into. All that’s required is a bit of measuring, mock up, drilling, and installation of our included expansion bolts.

Every VersaTube Building System kit (and every custom design) comes with foundation engineering drawings outlining specs, requirements, and guidelines for you or your concrete contractor to reference.

Are you wondering what kind of foundation and what method of anchoring will work best for your application? Please contact us! We would be glad to answer any and all technical questions you have about your upcoming VersaTube Building System project!
