Whether you want a VersaTube garage for your car or truck, or for your stuff - you want it to be organized. There’s nothing more frustrating than either having your garage so full of stuff your vehicle won’t fit, or so full of stuff you can’t find the thing you’re looking for.

Obviously, ORGANIZING your garage is the answer. But how to go about it?

If your garage is already full of stuff, you’re going to have to start by cleaning it out. There’s just no way around it. And it’s probably going to take you all day. Maybe two. (Maybe even a couple of weekends, if it’s really bad. We’re just being honest.)

When you’re cleaning it out, go through everything. Every cabinet. Every drawer. Every box. That way, you’ll be able to get rid of everything you don’t need, but you also won’t accidentally get rid of a family heirloom. (You’d never live that down.)

Sort all that stuff into categories: Keep, Donate/Sell, and Trash. Donate or sell that pile as soon as possible. You don’t want it hanging around. Haul off the trash, and then sort the keep into broad categories like tools, sports equipment, gardening, etc.

Now that you know what will be staying in your garage, draft a storage floor plan to accommodate all of it. Companies that make garage organizing systems offer space planning tools. Using these in combination with your garage’s dimensions is an excellent place to start. Consider lockable cabinets, open shelving, workbench tops and vertical organizing systems as part of your plan.

As you’re planning, keep one very important rule in mind: Everything that can be off the floor, should be. It’s the absolute best way to make - and keep - your garage organized and clutter-free.
