Do I Need Special Tools or Skills to Build a VersaTube Building?
When we tell people VersaTube buildings go together much like the old-fashioned Erector Set™ you might have played with as a kid, some people find it hard to believe. After all, we’re talking about an entire steel building. You’re right! But, this is one case where “too good to be true” does not apply.
No Special Skills Needed
Sure, there are other steel buildings on the market, but VersaTube buildings have one very special unique feature. That’s Slip-Fit Connections. They dramatically simplify the building process and make it possible that a few guys with NO construction experience can assemble a steel building in as little as a few days.
How Does it Work?
Combined with our swaging process (the unique way we shape rectangular and square steel tubing), slip-fit connections allow you to just fit the ends of the tubing together and create structurally sound connections. Your building kit is pre-engineered so you don’t have to worry about the technical stuff. The frame components are cut and bent as needed. All the welding has been done. We’ve even taken care of drilling the holes for the screws and anchors.
When it’s time to assemble your kit, you’ll start by fitting the base rails together and then bolting them. From there you assemble the frame roof and walls and fasten the joints. You’ll receive a detailed assembly manual with your building, but we also make all of our manuals available online so you can see exactly what you’re getting into before you place your order. Take a look; you’ll be impressed by how straightforward the process is!
What Does it Take?
Our American-made steel framing kits go together with just basic household tools and most buildings can be built by just two or three people. If you want to DIY your new VersaTube building, go for it! You don’t need a single special skill or tool to get the job done. Here are the tools you can expect to use:
Level
Tape Measure
Adjustable Wrench
Chalk Box and Line
Tin Snips
Power drill
Hammer
Step Ladder
Safety Glasses
