Say So-Long to Termites and Carpenter Ants When You Choose a Steel Building

by VersaTube Marketing on September 18, 2019

According to Terminix, there are 20 different types of termite species in the United States that are considered structural pests. Meaning, they are the type of termites who invade and eat wood structures - including homes, sheds, workshops, and garages! Although termites are most common in warmer states (those in the Southern and Western parts of the country), Alaska is the only state in the US that has zero termites. Not great news for the rest of us...unless you own a steel building instead of a timber one!

That’s Not Good Eats

For a termite, wood is food, and once a swarm of them has discovered your wood building, it is hard to put a halt to the around-the-clock buffet! If you’ve ever dealt with termites, you know it’s an experience you hope to never repeat. That’s the beauty of a VersaTube steel building! Our 2” x 3” heavy-duty galvanized American steel tubing and 29 gauge American sheet metal is excellent for constructing a long-lasting building and terrible for feeding termites. There’s simply nothing for them to eat.

It’s Not Nice for Nesting, Either

Unlike termites, which consume the wood, carpenter ants aren’t using a wood building for food. Instead, they chew it out to build nests inside. For your wood building though, the result is the same. Thankfully, VersaTube buildings aren’t good for nesting, either!

If termites are a problem in your area, choosing a VersaTube structure for your project can be a lifesaver. In addition to being impervious to termites, VersaTube buildings are built to weather all types of extreme conditions, including extreme heat and cold, fire, and they have even withstood hurricanes. Making VersaTube a great choice for every buyer, even if you live in a zone that doesn’t have a major termite problem.
