Tips to get WiFi to Your VersaTube Steel Building

by VersaTube Marketing on October 15, 2019

You’re in the middle of fixing a machine in your VersaTube workshop and you run into a question. Wouldn’t it be nice to watch a YouTube tutorial without burning through the data limit on your phone plan? Or how about just listening to a podcast or your favorite tunes as you work. It’s all fun until the phone bill comes in and you’ve used way more than your data plan allows. You, my friend, need WiFi in your shop! Before you give up and raise your data limit, consider using these 3 tips to get WiFi to your VersaTube building.

Try an Extender

A WiFi Extender is placed between the router and the area where you need WiFi and it helps extend the routers signal. So, let’s say you have a signal right outside your building or right inside the door, but then it fades once you enter the building or move very far into it. Try placing a WiFi extender in a window or right at the door to boost the WiFi signal from your house into your VersaTube workshop. If your building is close enough to your house, this could work and it’s a super simple method to fix your WiFi issue.

Use a Long-Range Repeater

A repeater is a WiFi booster, just like an extender. However, depending on your building’s location, a long-range repeater could possibly work when an extender wouldn’t (or vice versa. It may take some trial and error to find which one works in your case.)

You may have seen a simple repeater that plugs into a household outlet and “repeats” your WiFi signal to boost your internet signal in the house. That’s not what you’re looking for in this case. You need a long-range version that you install on the exterior of both buildings. In essence, the one you install on the exterior of your house repeats the signal to the one you install on the exterior of your VersaTube steel building. And voilà...internet!

Call Your Internet Provider

You were probably hoping for a DIY solution, but if neither an extender or a long-range repeater work, your best bet is to have your internet provider run a 2nd internet connection to your steel building. But, look at the bright side, you’ll be saving money on your phone bill each month since you can conserve data by connecting to your WiFi when you’re in your VersaTube building!
