Tips to store your camping gear in a VersaTube garage

by VersaTube Marketing on September 24, 2019

Camping is a popular pastime and we can see why. When you camp, you connect with nature, can go hiking and fishing, have fun with family and friends and, best of all, make s’mores over a campfire.

Nothing can ruin a weekend of camping like disorganized gear, however. Here are some tips on how to store camping gear in a VersaTube garage.

Designate a Storage Area in the Garage

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to camping is packing.

Add a shelving unit or clear a space in your current storage area in your VersaTube garage dedicated to storing your camping gear. Consider ease of access and amount of space needed when picking an area to store your gear. You don’t want a space that’s going to make obtaining your camping gear a hassle.

Use Storage Tubs

Use large, clear storage tubs to store your camping gear so it will be more visible. Add labels to the tub to be even more organized. Keep cookware in one tub, sleeping bags in another, and so on until all of your gear is neat and organized in their own plastic tub.

With dedicated storage space and neatly organized plastic tubs, you’ll never have to wonder what’s where when it comes to your camping gear. This will make it easier to pack up and go camping for the weekend.

Clean/air Out Gear Before Storing It

Prevent mold from growing in your VersaTube garage by making sure to drying out wet items like tents and thoroughly cleaning camp cookware before storing it in clear plastic tubs. It also helps to make sure that your garage is well ventilated. This will also keep your garage from smelling like moldy camp gear.

Air out and machine wash sleeping bags before storing them as well. Hang them up with a hanger or lay them out flat in a clean space. Try to avoid direct sunlight when airing out sleeping bags, as UV rays can damage the material. After airing it out, wash your sleeping bag in a front-loading washing machine and place it in a dryer with a terry cloth and two tennis balls to prevent static and fluff out the fill.

Once all of your camping gear is aired out, dry, and clean, organize accordingly in your handy storage bins and place in its designated area in your garage. That way, it’ll be all ready to pack the next time you want to go camping.

Storing your camping gear may seem like a chore, but it’s worth it in the end. It makes your gear easy to grab and go, so you can spend more time camping and less time searching for items you need. Even worse, having to run to the store at the last minute to replace items you couldn’t find or weren’t clean enough for use.
