Choose the color for your VersaTube barn
When you picture a barn, probably the first thing that pops into your mind is a bright red structure near a traditional white farmhouse. Historically, red has been the most popular color for barns. But do you know why?
Before chemically tinted paint was created, farmers would often paint their barns with linseed oil mixed with rust, which would seal their wood structures and help prevent mold and moss from growing. The rust in the mix gave barns a dark orange-red coloring. Sometimes wealthy farmers would also use blood from a recent slaughter to tint the linseed oil, which gave barns another shade of dark red. When modern paint was created, red was still the popular barn-color choice, though the shade changed from dark to bright red.
When it comes to picking the color for your VersaTube barn, bold red combined with white is still a great selection. If red isn’t your thing, how about neutral stone combined with bright green? Or for a more laidback choice, you could go for a stone and brown combination. Really, choosing the color combination for your VersaTube Barn is just a matter of preference.
But if you’re not already set on a color, we have a couple of things you might consider as you make the choice ...
How will you use your barn?
How you are going to use your VersaTube structure may influence your color choices. For instance, if your barn is completely for your own private use, you might like a neutral color scheme that blends more closely with your home. If you’re renting out stalls in your barn or have another commercial venture, a bolder color choice will jump right out at clients. If you’re building your barn to be a venue for weddings or events, iconic red and white may be the perfect choice.
Location
When it comes to picking the colors for your barn, you might want to consider the location you’ve chosen on your property. If your structure will be in close proximity to your home, you’ll probably want to choose colors that complement your living space. If your VersaTube barn will be set away from the house, there’s a smaller chance for the colors to clash so you can choose any color combo you like.
Personal style
When it comes down to it, the colors you choose are all about your personal style. Red and green are great for a classic barn look while stone and brown are perfect if you’re going for a neutral style that will blend in nicely with the landscape and any other structures.
Choosing the color is one of the fun parts about designing your own VersaTube structure. That’s why we try to offer a variety of colors that will work for any location and taste.
