How to Design Your Own VersaTube Shed
It’s a DIY-world out there, and VersaTube takes DIY to an entirely new level, making home building projects easy and accessible for everyone. If you’re thinking about jumping in and creating a building of your own, a VersaTube steel shed is a great place to start. But as with any construction project, there are a few things you need to think about before you pull out your tool kit ...
Location
Where are you planning on building your VersaTube shed? You’ve probably heard the old saying “location, location, location” before. Well, it applies to your shed, too Take the time to scope out your possible building spots, considering drainage, building codes, neighborhood rules, accessibility, etc.
Measurements
Knowing what you will keep in your new shed will be very helpful in planning the layout. When calculating on how large your shed will need to be, keep in mind that a little extra space is always welcome - both inside and outside. Need more square footage than your building space will allow? Consider adding a loft inside your shed to nearly double your storage space. If exterior space isn’t a concern, a lean-to is always a great addition that creates additional, weather-protected storage and workspace.
Insulation
Planning to use your shed as an office, man cave or workshop? You’ll want to insulate your new structure. This will keep your shed comfortable during both the cooler and warmer months.
Color
Picking out the right colors for your shed is a small task but it may be the first thing people will notice. Instead of picking out the same color for both the trim and walls, change it up and use two different colors. One great trick is using the same color for both the trim and roof. Using darker colors for the walls and lighter colors for the trim (or vice versa) will make your shed really stand out.
Anchor
How do you plan on anchoring your new shed? Will you be pouring concrete or anchoring directly into the ground? VersaTube structures are designed to anchor into prepared ground, gravel, asphalt, or concrete. So there really is no wrong answer. It’s up to your preferences and your budget.
Now you can design and build your new VersaTube shed with confidence!
