Metal Garages
Can You Build a VersaTube Garage in the City Limits?
We sometimes get asked questions about building restrictions, like, “Can I build a VersaTube garage in the city limits?” While we can’t give you a simple “yes” or “no” to this question, because all cities have their own regulations, in many cities, you can. You definitely want to check your local zoning laws and make sure you’re sticking to the rules. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
Permits
Permit requirements vary throughout the United States. So, the best thing you can do is to simply check with your municipality. If permitting is required by your city/county, we offer certified stamped engineering drawings. You’ll see the option as an add-on when you’re using our Design-Your-Own tool. Or, if you purchase one of our standard models and need stamped engineering, just call us at 888-380-4946!
Neighborhood Requirements
Got an HOA? They probably have a lot of guidelines about what you can and cannot build on your property, including a garage! Sometimes, HOA requirements specify that you need to get permission from your HOA before adding any structure. To be safe, just double check your HOA rules before proceeding so you can head off any issues.
From zoning and permit rules to the requirements of your specific suburb or neighborhood, transparency is your best move. Find out the requirements and make sure you comply. Constructing your building only to find out you needed a permit will be hard on your wallet. You’d likely be fined by the municipality, plus be required to take your garage down before going through appropriate channels to rebuild.
