Insulation
VersaTube structures are commonly insulated with roll-on metal building insulation, spray foam insulation, and/or a reflective radiant barrier insulation. Insulating your VersaTube building is not required, although it is suggested if you plan to heat or cool the inside of the structure. Insulation may also work to reduce moisture from entering the structure through condensation and generally provides some level of noise dampening depending on the thickness used.
Insulation is generally applied at one of two times during installation:
Before Sheet Metal is Attached:: Insulation rolls or reflective radiant barrier wraps are applied over the frame system before the sheet metal panels are attached. Based on the thickness of the insulation, your structure may require use of a thicker gauge sheet metal panel. If you are considering using insulation over 3” thick, a minimum 26 GA sheet metal must be used. 29 GA panels are sufficient for 3” thick or less insulation, although over tightening the sheet metal screws may cause some dimpling.
After Sheet Metal is Attached:: The most effective form of insulating a metal building after the sheet metal has been applied is spray foam insulation. This is blown in from the inside of the structure.
