Anchoring on Concrete Foundation
VersaTube structures are designed to anchor into prepared ground, gravel, asphalt, or concrete. Whichever foundation treatment you choose, anchoring can be achieved with relative ease.
VersaTube typically provides 1/2" x 7" expansion bolts with a flat washer and a hex nut or 30" ground anchors depending on the foundation type for your structure, however a wide variety of anchor options are on the market today.
- To begin the anchoring process, place starter base rails flush with the sheeting edge on the front of the slab.
- Locate and insert extension base rails until desired length is reached.
- Measure from end pin to the first pin of the next inserted base rail. Adjust spacing accurately and evenly.
- Once spacing is correct secure with 2 #12 self drilling screws NOTE: place screws so they penetrate swage as well.
- Locate 1/2" x 7" expansion anchor bolts and 1/2" washers. NOTE: Verify with local building department the type of anchor bolts approved for your area.
- Using the anchor hole in the base rail as a guide and a 1/2" concrete bit hammer drill, pre-drill 5" into slab. The holes will accumulate concrete dust and must be blown clean before securing the wedge anchor into the hole.
- Place the washer and nut on the top of bolt with 2 threads showing.
- Set bolt with a hammer and tighten down with crescent wrench NOTE: do not crush the tubing.
