Building Code Variations

08/27/2016 · EN002 / 08.16

Building codes are a set of standards created to ensure that any structure in a given area can withstand the conditions of that area.  Most of the VersaTube structures are designed for 40 PSF (pounds per square foot) ground snow loads and 90 MPH wind loads.  Additional loading can be achieved through various means, such as closer on-center spacing (increases ground snow load) or additional anchoring support (increases wind load).

While all VersaTube structures are pre-engineered to meet minimum area requirements, it is always a good idea to verify that the structure will pass your local area building code requirements.

Building codes are updated frequently and can vary widely based on a number of factors such as:

  •         •  Snow and Wind load
  •         •  Seismic load
  •         •  Frostline
  •         •  Structure height
  •         •  Structure materials
  •         •  Foundation type (and how the structure is attached)

If you need help locating your local building department, Google the building site zip code and the words  “local building department phone number”.
